The Japanese barberry 'Golden rocket' is a compact, upright, decidious shrub with a bright and fresh chartreuse foliage which provides a striking contrast to the coral cloured stems. The leaf colouring remains throughout the summer season. Tiny, scented, pale yellow flowers appear in spring, followed by crimson-red in autumn, which are attractive to birds and often remain on the stems after the leaves have fallen, therfore extending the season of interest of this decorative shrub through the winter.
