For best results, grow 'Nova Zembla'  in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained, acidic soil. Plants need minimal pruning and can be propagated by layering. Rhododendron ‘Nova Zembla’ is noted for its tolerance of heat and strong sun.

Avoid planting too deeply. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of leaf mould around the base of the plant each spring.

Grows to a mature height of 1.5 - 2.5m/ width 1.5 - 2m, over 5 - 10 years.
